October 11 is National Coming Out Day. To honor the day, I bought 3 boxes of cookies [approximately 54 cookies total] and will give them out to my friends in the dorm, the saxophone section, various other people in band, and I'll try to save a few for my crushes.
Why celebrate National Coming Out Day (NCOD)?
I believe gay pride, especially NCOD, to be a time to remind a hetero-centric society that gay people are around. It might seem odd--- but it's not so common that two guys are seen showing affection or any sign of being a couple [at least not in the non-coastal U.S.--- ie, the central and western parts]. It's not really that I'm trying to advertise myself as a homosexual. I just want to get the point across that gay people are around... and they don't have to act a certain way, either.
Why cookies?
I'm giving away cookies to those I'm closest to [and in a few cases, people I'd like to become closer to] because it's my way of being nice. As
s0rr0w told me, "Everyone likes cookies." It shows appreciation to those people, that I care, bla bla bla... yeah. Oh, and they have rainbow chocolate candies in them for the occassion.
In addition to cookies, I'll be wearing an NCOD shirt. On the front will be the first [NCOD logo] image and the quote, "There's nothing queer about loving a human being" (something to that effect). On the back is the Disney values image.

Happy National Coming Out Day, everyone. I hope everyone's went well. My day:
11:00 Woke up, had to wait for the bathroom the finish being cleaned, and got breakfast.
11:15 Noticed "Revenge of the Nerds" was on tv, watched the part where it's said that all jocks think about is sports, and all nerds think about is sex. I made some comment to Brendon (who's on duty, yay!), and he said, "It's true"... and then I went to breakfast.
12 Walked past Brendon, since I had just finished breakfast.
1:30Walked outside a few minutes, walked back in... talked to Brendon... wished him a happy National Coming Out Day. His reaction? "COming Out Day? Is that today? Cool," and he just kind of nodded his head.... and I walked off.
2:00 I'm writing the first part of this entry [to be publically displayed tonight]
2:30 Walked to Fred Meyer's to buy cookies
5:00 Ate supper with the local gay group on campus
7:00 Started watching "10 Things I Hate About You"
8:15 Wanted to watch Queer As Folk (QAF), but I couldn't get a hold of the group who was watching it, so I finished watching "10 Things I Hate About You"
9:00 Watched "Lonestar State of Mind." The thought of watching a Texas-themed movie wasn't appealing at first... but it was actually very good. It even had an openly gay guy in it :-)
10:40 Writing the second part of this entry, still yet to be publicized.
