I know the answer!

In February, I posted this entry depicting some interesting designs chalked around campus. I was, at first, speculating they might be a code, some form of guerrilla/stealth/undercover advertisement, or simply something to do with Pac-Man (due to a similar type of chalking of a Pac-Man level on-campus). The other day, while I was running around looking for a printer and being generally late for my very last class, I saw a very fresh chalking. In fact, I caught the person in the act of chalking. I know what they are now. I won't say it right now, however. I'll reveal the answer in a day or two. In the mean time, go back to the previous post and just speculate about what these chalkings might be.

Mars, we have a mystery.

After watching Veronica Mars, I've been wanting to solve a mystery. I think I finally found one... kind of. It's not much of one- but it'll work. Around the science hall of my university, I've seen some mysterious chalkings. I finally managed to take pictures of them today (just hours before it rained and washed the chalk away). These are the only nine I found. Keep in mind I have no idea if these are even positioned right (so don't assume that the top of the image is "up" for the particular chalking).

More bizarreness )

I reckon it's something like guerrilla-marketing, although it's been limited to the area around the sidewalk (so far- that I've been able to find). I've even walked through the building with no ads on the walls or bulletin boards with anything seemingly related. I've also thought that maybe it's some classroom experiment- a teacher trying to get students more involved by chalking these codes on the sidewalk or something. It could also be a psychological experiment of some sort. I'm not sure how that'd work- but the psychology department is located in that building.

It could be a language, but most languages tend to be written in a straight line- either vertical or horizontal, although I have seen some conlangs that are written in web form- similar to an idea web or maybe a tree diagram of some sort.
